By accessing and using Steer Clearly ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Steer Clearly regarding your use of the Service.

2. Description of Service

Steer Clearly is a neighborhood safety analysis platform that provides:

  • Safety Data: Neighborhood crime statistics and safety ratings
  • Demographic Information: Population and economic data from US Census
  • Geographic Analysis: Interactive maps and location-based insights
  • Search Functionality: City and state-based neighborhood searches

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Account Creation

  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
  • One account per person; duplicate accounts are prohibited

3.2 Account Responsibility

  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations

4. Subscription Plans and Pricing

4.1 Plan Types

Free Plan
  • 1 search per day
  • Limited to 5 neighborhood results
  • High crime and moderate risk areas only
  • No access to safe neighborhood data
Premium Plan - $4.99/month
  • Unlimited searches
  • Complete neighborhood data access
  • Safe area recommendations
  • Detailed demographic analysis
  • Export functionality (CSV/JSON)

4.2 Pricing and Billing

  • Monthly Billing: Premium subscriptions are billed monthly at $4.99
  • Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
  • Payment Processing: Secure payment through Stripe
  • Currency: All prices are in USD

5. Subscription Management

5.1 Subscription Lifecycle

  • Activation: Premium features activate immediately upon successful payment
  • Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew on the same calendar day each month
  • Multiple Periods: System tracks separate periods for each subscription cycle

5.2 Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation Rights: You may cancel your subscription at any time
  • Grace Period: After cancellation, you retain Premium access until the end of your current billing period
  • No Partial Refunds: Cancellations do not result in partial refunds for unused time
  • Immediate Downgrade: After the grace period ends, your account automatically downgrades to Free

5.3 Reactivation Options

When reactivating a cancelled subscription, you have three options:

  • Immediate Reactivation: New billing period starts immediately
  • Restore Subscription: Un-cancel within grace period (same billing cycle continues)
  • Scheduled Reactivation: New billing period starts after current period ends (prevents loss of paid time)

6. Payment Terms

6.1 Payment Processing

  • Payment Method: Valid credit or debit card required
  • Secure Processing: All payments processed through Stripe's secure platform
  • Payment Authorization: You authorize us to charge your payment method
  • Failed Payments: Service may be suspended for failed payments

6.2 Refund Policy

  • No Refunds: All payments are non-refundable except as required by law
  • Technical Issues: Service credits may be provided for verified technical problems
  • Dispute Resolution: Contact us within 30 days of billing for dispute resolution

6.3 Price Changes

  • Notification: 30-day advance notice for price changes
  • Grandfathering: Existing subscribers maintain current pricing for one billing cycle
  • Cancellation Right: You may cancel before price changes take effect

  • Educational and informational purposes
  • Real estate and urban planning research

7.2 Prohibited Uses

  • Discriminatory Practices: Using data to discriminate based on protected characteristics
  • Commercial Resale: Redistributing or reselling our data
  • Automated Access: Using bots, scrapers, or automated tools
  • System Abuse: Attempting to circumvent usage limits or security measures
  • Harmful Activities: Using the service for illegal or harmful purposes

8. Data and Privacy

  • Curated Data: Neighborhood information from verified sources
  • Real-Time Updates: Data refreshed regularly for accuracy

8.2 Data Accuracy

  • Best Effort: We strive for accuracy but cannot guarantee 100% precision
  • Third-Party Sources: Data accuracy depends on government and official sources
  • User Discretion: Users should verify critical information independently

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Rights

  • Service Content: All design, code, and compiled data are our property
  • Trademarks: Steer Clearly name and logo are our trademarks
  • Algorithms: Data processing and analysis methods are proprietary

9.2 Your Rights

  • Personal Use: You may use data for personal, non-commercial purposes
  • Limited Sharing: You may share specific results for educational discussion
  • No Redistribution: You may not redistribute our compiled datasets

10. Service Availability

10.1 Uptime

  • Best Effort: We strive for high availability but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
  • Maintenance: Scheduled maintenance may temporarily interrupt service
  • Technical Issues: We work to resolve technical problems promptly

10.2 Service Modifications

  • Updates: We may update features and functionality
  • Discontinuation: We reserve the right to discontinue features with notice
  • Data Sources: Data availability depends on third-party sources

11. Disclaimers and Limitations
